 Du Tran is an applied microeconomist with focus on industrial organization. He is a highly motivated professional with demonstrated quantitative and modeling skills, and the ability to master new duties and analytical tools quickly. He is also an ‘idealistic’ activist and a philanthropist who want to change the world through actions. Du graduated from Economics Department, University of Texas at Austin in May, 2007. Since June, 2007, he has been working as a consultant at ERSGroup - an economic consulting firm that provides expert witness and advisory services in matters involving complex business litigation and regulation. At ERSGroup, Du collaborates with distinguished academics to provide expert testimony on economic, financial, and governance matters before regulatory agencies and courts of law. He has actively involved in a number of high profile cases, including economic withholding of capacity in energy spot market, bundling discount and foreclosure of competition in pharmaceutical industry, horizontal merger in consumer packaging industry, alleged tacit collusion among firms in agribusiness, among others. His industry experience includes healthcare, pharmaceuticals, natural gas, electricity, consumer packaging and electronic markets. Beyond his professional duties, Du actively involves in philanthropic works around the globe. He is a member and a frequent contributor of Amnesty International, and Servant of the Nation – a humanitarian movement in the African country of Malawi. He is a co-founder of DoanKet – a group which donates and distributes funds to victims of natural disasters. He is also a celebrated writer on MinhBien, an online journal created to promote rational thinking in Vietnam. The site receives more than a million page views in less than one year in operation. Du and his wife, Julia, welcomed their first child, Gabriel Tran, to their little family in January 2008. They currently reside in Washington, District of Columbia. |
